IASIM-10
Alex presented the work of the group with a talk entitled ‘Imaging SIMS: Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry, 2D and 3D’ to the first International Association for Spectral Imaging (IASIM) meeting in Dublin, Ireland. IASIM-10 is essentially the third EASIM meeting (European Association for Spectral Imaging) which was retitled recently.

Alan leaves
Having been with us for three years Alan is moving back to his native USA. He has secured a post-doctoral position in Nick Winograd’s lab at Penn State University. Since Nick is a close collaborator of ours we expect to be working closely with Alan in the future.

Recognition
John Vickerman has been awarded the prestigous Theophilus Redwood Award 2009 by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
“Awarded for his outstanding contribution to the development and application of secondary ion mass spectrometry techniques for surface analysis and 3D chemical imaging of organic and biological systems.”

Both John F and Alex presented work at the 59th IUVSTA Workshop on Surface Chemical Analysis – Improving data interpretation by multivariate & informatics techniques, in Trinidad.
