I am currently employed on a BBSRC Bioprocessing Research Industry Club (BRIC) funded project implementing the application of single cell metabolite profiling to the optimisation of stem cell bioprocessing. The project aims to use single cell imaging techniques including SIMS, MALDI-MS & Raman spectroscopy to define the metabolic profile that is characteristic of stem cells progressing towards distinct cellular fates and profiles that are indicative of cells at different stages of differentiation.

In my previous postdoctoral position I was the lead scientist for all aspects of targeted and untargeted LC-MS-based metabolomics including sample analysis, instrument maintenance and analytical troubleshooting. I conducted a diverse range of profiling metabolomic experiments undertaken on a LTQ Orbitrap Velos (Thermo Scientific) analysing an array of biological sample matrices including, serum, plasma, urine, various tissues and CSF. I also developed a number of targeted LC-MS methods for a range of complex analytes utilising a TSQ Vantage QQQ (Thermo Scientific). Additionally, I was responsible for the data reduction and analysis of complex data sets and subsequent summarising of results.

I greatly enjoy working in a multidisciplinary environment and bridging the gap between instrumentation and clinical research.
