PhD in Computational Approaches for the Interpretation of SIMS Images
(2009 – 2012)

Many biological systems, including drug-cell interactions, require both the identification and location of specific chemicals. SIMS (Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry), used in imaging mode, is making great strides towards the goal of single cell and tissue analysis. The experiments, however, result in huge volumes of data. We need advanced computational approaches employing sophisticated techniques to convert this data into knowledge that can be used to target specific diseases.

My project aims to produce a framework for data analysis, integrating novel algorithms, local and remote databases, image analysis and 3D visualisation.
